Frequently Asked Questions

How old sprouts are before they are milled into barley sprout powder?
Barley sprouts are sprouted for 18-24 until radical emergence. The Broccoli sprouts have the option of either 18-24 hours till radical formation or 4 day till cotyledon formation.
Are barley seeds also milled or only sprouts?
There is a wash process that will remove some seed hulls and dead seed but everything after that point is dried and milled together.  The highest germinating seed available on the market are used for barley sprout powder production (usually between 95%-98% germination rate) so there is very little none sprouted seeds left.
How sprouts are processed: are they dried using freeze, heat, or sun, etc…?
Sprouts are dried using heated air dry system to maintain nutritional profiles.
What temperature is used for drying? What bacteria’s kill steps are used?
Sprouts are dried between 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit.  Bacteria kill step is an organic certified calcium hypochlorite treatment applied to seed before sprouting along with Spent Irrigation water testing to ensure no harmful pathogens are present.
