Dill is a herb that has been used to enhance the flavor of many dishes for centuries. The plant is native to southern Russia, the Mediterranean, and western Africa, but today it can be found almost everywhere as dill can grow in any climate. We know that Dill Seeds have been valued for its incredible flavor and healing properties since ancient times because mentions of it can be found in ancient Egyptian texts on healing and even the Bible.

The rich flavor of dill will complement a great variety of dishes. All in all, including dill in your diet, will not only help you improve your cooking but also benefit your health greatly.

Health Benefits

The most important properties of dill seeds that benefit your health are:

  • Anti-bacterial effect.
These seeds are packed with chemicals that possess high anti-bacterial properties. Therefore, consuming dill in its various forms helps treat and prevent many diseases caused by bacteria. The seeds can even be used in some homemade cosmetic lotions to fight acne.
  • High calcium content.
The seeds contain a significant amount of calcium. Consuming them on a regular basis will help increase bone strength and prevent osteoporosis. Note that our level of bone density drops as we age. So, it will be beneficial to increase your dill intake to combat these negative changes.
  • Efficiency in treating respiratory diseases.
The mix of healing and anti-bacterial chemicals in dill seeds makes them very efficient helpers in the fight against various respiratory conditions, including asthma, bronchitis, and influenza. The simplest homemade treatment for these diseases is to mix a handful of seeds with honey and take the concoction three times a day. You should experience some relief right away.
  • Bad breath counter.
In the vast majority of cases, bad breath is caused by bacteria breeding in your mouth. Chewing on some dill seeds will help get rid of them and solve the problem. Note that dill has a potent odor, so your breath will smell of it for quite a while.
  • Carminative effect.
Dill is a potent carminative. Therefore, it can prevent and treat excessive gas, which is a very unpleasant condition that can cause you embarrassment in public. As a carminative, dill forces gas through the digestive tract, preventing its build up inside your body.

This is a very nice product. I was impressed with the aroma when I opened the bag because the seeds were very fresh. There was very little foreign matter also. I vacuum sealed and froze them in 8 oz. packages and the total weight was spot on. Buying in this large volume is saving a ton on money. I saved $115 vs. buying them in the .85 oz size from that “big box” store.

One of the first items to ship in a multiple order. Sent in an airtight baggie with exterior cardboard packaging for protection. The seed appears fresh and of good color.

I had just run out of dill seed from all the pickling I’ve done this summer. I was pleasantly surprised that you had dill seed and that it was reasonably priced. I had 4 pounds of dill seed lying on my doorstep within two days.

Exactly as advertised. Tons of dill seeds, drastically cheaper than buying those little glass jars from the grocery spice shelf. Perfect for canning.

Just opening the box I got a good smell of Dill. WOW!!! It’s got to be fresh. I used it on a fish boil a few days later and it was like I just pulled the Dill out of the garden. It did a great job. I use Dill and Caraway seed, put in a cloth bag and I boil them with the fish and extras I put in the fish boil. I will buy more when I run out of this bag.
