Kamut is one of the ancient varieties of durum wheat. It contains more protein, beneficial amino acids, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin E than wheat.  Kamut is a distant ancestor of modern wheat. In 1948, an American pilot discovered several grains in the 5,000 years old sarcophagus of an Egyptian pharaoh. Then, he gave them to his friend, a farmer. Surprisingly, the grains rose and brought the harvest. Thus, Kamut’s 36 grains, obtained during the excavation of a tomb in Egypt, were brought to Montana, and since then, this variety of wheat is grown strictly under the licensed trade name “Kamut”. The grains are heated and then pressed to make them flat to make rolled Kamut flakes.

Taste and Use of Organic Kamut Flakes

Kamut grains are 2-3 times larger than ordinary wheat grains and have a pleasant nutty flavor. Organic Kamut wheat flakes are used in the preparation of pasta and crackers. Due to limited production volumes, health food stores sell Kamut products exclusively. In the meantime, remember that Kamut, like any other wheat, contains gluten, and if you are on a gluten-free diet, you should omit Kamut grain flakes in your diet.

Organic Kamut Flakes Nutrients

Not only do organic Kamut flakes have a pleasant nutty flavor, but they also contain much more nutrients than modern wheat grains. For comparison, Kamut has:

  • 29% more proteins, 27% more lipids, 23% more magnesium, 25% more zinc, much more vitamin E;
  • 16 amino acids with higher rates;
  • higher values in 8 out of 9 mineral salts found in regular wheat.

Cooking Instructions

  • Bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
  • Slowly whisk in 1 cup of flakes. Add salt.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, 10min.
  • Remove from heat and let stand 2 minutes. You can add butter to enhance the flavor.
  • Make homemade granola by mixing cooked flakes, nuts, oil, and salt.
  • Bake the mix for 20 min at 300F by spreading a thin layer.
  • Once it’s out of the oven, add chopped dried fruit, mix it in and let it cool off.

Delicious and nutritious

I had recently come off a raw eating regiment and was seeking meals I could cook that were plant based protein options. Of course I could’ve just got regular oats but they aren’t rich in protein and minerals and tend to be gmo because most wheat is. I knew about khamut from dr sebi but wasn’t really able to find it locally. Two months ago when I decided to eat cooked food and went shopping I kept saying I wanted some hot cereal and noticed kamut flakes which I’d never heard of. At the time I wanted immediate access but once the store didn’t restock I went online and found food to live. Better taste and quality and I like the options available for different quantities. Since I was this everyday i go through it fast. This 6 lb bag is the bomb! I felt I was being excessive when originally ordering it but it was the best option for me. Great whole meal to add and it’s very filling so if you’re looking for partial replacement this is it!🤣

Delicious 😋

We love this so much! It's quickly taken over the place of other hot cereals! I use the instant pot to cook mine. SO easy!

I was told here that I don't need to boil kamut before I use it in granola. Well, not advisable. It turns to very hard little rocks. I cooked it and it tasted delicious. However, once I baked it (cooked kamut) in granola - it again turned to evil little rocks. Could the reason be that my granola recipe calls for 350-375F? Rolled oats used this way, come out fine, uncooked and baked at 375.
