Organic Farro Grain is a type of wheat that has been cultivated since the ancient times. Organic Farro is special because unlike many other grains it almost hasn’t changed and preserved its initial form. It originated in Mesopotamia but became widely used all over the world and is gaining more attention every day. Organic Italian Farro by Food to Live is pearled and steel cut, implying it has the bran layer removed and has been cracked into pieces. In contrast with whole non pearled Farro, ours cooks much faster, thus will significantly save your time in the kitchen. Moreover, Food to Live’s Organic Steel Cut Farro is non-irradiated, which means it hasn’t been exposed to ionizing radiation.

The Nutritional Profile of Organic Cracked Farro Grain

Organic Steel Cut Farro is full of plant-based protein and dietary fiber which makes it especially good for those who follow Vegan, Vegetarian, and Mediterranean diets. Furthermore, this grain is rich in Niacin (Vitamin B3), Zinc, Magnesium, Iron, Calcium, and Potassium but at the same time is low in fat and free of cholesterol. Eating Farro may have a positive impact on your digestion, heart health, and blood sugar levels.

Ways to use Italian Steel Cut Farro

Organic Farro has a very pleasant nutty flavor and chewy texture that work perfect in a variety of dishes. You can eat Farro on its own as porridge, or add it to soups, pilafs, salads, and grain bowls. Besides, Pearled Farro is an amazing side dish that you can use a substitute for Wheat, Rice, Barley and Quinoa. It goes well with roasted or grilled veggies, meat, stews, mushrooms, and gravies. If you are tired of eating oatmeal every day, try to replace it with Cracked Pearled Wheat Grain. It can also be combined with nuts, fruits, peanut butter, or eggs and avocado. This grain will be an asset to your pantry, especially if you shop budget-friendly Farro Grain bulk bag.

How to cook Organic Italian Steel Cut Farro

Unlike Organic Whole Grain Farro that requires quite some time to be cooked, Steel Cut Italian Farro by Food to Live is easy and fast-cooking. Just follow these few steps if you are preparing Farro on the stovetop:

Rinse Farro under cold water
Combine 4 cups of water and 1 cup of Farro in a saucepan (you can also add some salt or herbs)
Bring to a boil and reduce the heat
Cover with a lid and simmer for 12-15 mins or until tender
Drain the excess water and enjoy!

If you have a pressure cooker:

Add 1 part of rinsed Farro to a pot with 2 parts of water
Pressure cook on “HIGH” mode for 2-3 mins
Allow natural release for 10 mins
Bon Appetit!
