INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp matcha powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- Powdered sugar for coating
- Heart-shaped sprinkles
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and matcha powder. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
- Cover the cookie dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls.
- Roll each ball in powdered sugar until well coated.
- Place the coated balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 min or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few min and top each cookie with a heart-shaped sprinkle (It’s a sweet nod to the Grinch’s heart growing three sizes in the classic tale!)
- Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
